Hey yall! I’m so glad you dropped by. Most of these are southern recipes that have been handed down for generations. There are a few people on Facebook that has begged me to do this for some time now. And I have been meaning to. But when my grandbabies asked me to write down all of my recipes. I knew I had to. Now please don’t expect anything fancy here. I’m just a southern cook that was taught how by my mother and grandmother. Some of these recipes you have probably heard of and others may be new to you. Either way, I hope you find something you just love. If you do find something you like. Leave me a comment or drop me a line. I have always loved to hear from my readers. *Note* I am one of those cooks that never measures anything. I have done it so many times that I can tell by looking at how much I use. If the recipe calls for a cup of sugar. I’m not going to measure it. I’m going to dump in the amount that looks like a cup to me. So, with that being said. I am going to try my best to convert my recipes into exact measurements for you. As long as you follow along somewhat closely, don’t worry, you won't mess it up. Relax! Cooking is supposed to be fun. So come on, stop reading, and let's go have some fun! I love yall and Jesus does too.

Tips and Tricks

This is my collection of handy tips and tricks. Some of these I have found on the web and some I have come up with myself. If you have a handy tip you would like to share. Send it to me and I'll post it here.

                                         *****************

The Best Hair Conditioner EVER.

This can be used on all hair types and textures. It's safe for permed or color-treated hair and I highly recommend it for any type of damaged hair.

Put your hair up into a ponytail. And you may want to put a towel across your shoulders. Pour some olive oil into your hand. (Actually, any kind of cooking oil will work for this.) Saturate your hair from the ponytail to the ends. Make sure the whole ponytail is wet and the ends are covered. Let this oil set in your hair for half an hour then wash and condition as usual. You are going to be amazed! Your hair is going to be unbelievably soft and healthy. I do this twice a week. But you can use it as often as necessary.

Fabric sanitizer!

I am loving this!

I mix a large bottle of this to keep in my cabinet. It's handy when I just want to grab it and spray.

I mix four cups of brown Listerine. ( Use more or less for your bottle size.)

Then I add one cup of Downy fabric softener.

You could also use a hair conditioner or essential oils.

Mix gently by shaking the bottle. Then spray on any material. I use it on couches, chairs, throw pillows, mattresses. Rugs. Just anything that could use sanitizing and can't be thrown in the washer.

                                                Handbag light

OK, ladies, I think you're going to love this one. To keep my small flashlight from falling to the bottom of my handbag, I attached it to the inside. Now, not only can I grab my flashlight when I need it. But I can turn it on and find anything in my handbag! Give this a try. I'm sure you're going to love it.

If you don't have a small flashlight, grab you one here.Flashlight

                                                *****************

                                                  Antiseptic cleaner.

This is a mixture that I actually came up with on my own.

I mix equal parts of regular (brown) Listerine and peroxide then I add one-quarter of rubbing alcohol.

This can be used as a spray antiseptic for cuts and scrapes. It can be used to soothe insect bites. It can be used safely on animals too!

It can also be used as a mouth rinse for any type of mouth sore. ( Rinse and spit it out. DO NOT swallow!)

I keep this mixed up all the time at our house. It's our quick go-to.

I can't remember where I found this tip. But I have been using it for years.

When you fry grilled cheese sandwiches. Instead of using butter on your bread, put a thin layer of dukes mayonnaise. It makes the bread a bit crispier when fried and adds just a slight touch of flavor. Give it a try. I bet you'll stop using butter!
